Tournament Notes:
The tournament will begin, again, at 7:30am EST with coverage (in the USA) on ESPN. Forty-eight players need to complete their R-2. The projected cut is (E) par. If no further delays occur, the third round will begin Saturday at approximately 10:30am
Reigning FedExCup champion Dustin Johnson (T-1) is seeking to become first World No. 1 to win the Masters Tournament since Tiger Woods in 2002.
Justin Thomas (T-1) carded a second-round 69, his fourth score in the 60s in his last five rounds at the Masters. Thomas had only one score in 60s n his first 13 rounds at Augusta.
Tiger Woods recorded two birdies and two bogeys in 10 holes prior to the suspension of play. Woods stands T-22, at 4-under total.
Abraham Ancer is making Masters Tournament debut. The last player to win in his first Masters appearance wasFuzzy Zoeller in 1979. Ancer is seeking his first PGA Tour victory and if he wins this tournament, it would mark two tournament champs from Mexico in consecutive weeks (CarlosOrtiz won at Houston last week).
Cameron Smith played his final four holes in 5-under (with Eagle-Birdie-Birdie-Birdie on Nos. 15-18). That effort tied his longest Birdie/Eagle streak of his tour career (He did the same at the 2017 RBC Canadian Open, R-2). Smith’s best result in 16 prior major championship appearances was a T-4 at the 2015 U.S. Open. His best result in three prior Masters Tournament appearances was T-5 in 2018.
Bernhard Langer (T-27) became the oldest player to make the cut in Masters history. He’ll will be 63 years, 2 months, 18 days old as of today and will be current record holder, of 63 years, 1 month, 16 days by Tommy Aaron in 2000.
Due to injury, Erik van Rooyen withdrew from Masters Tournament following the completion of his first round on Friday morning.

Sports Business and the Golf Industry
If weather further delays the Masters, an unusual sports business decision might have CBS Sports turn the broadcast over to Disney-owned ABC on Sunday. (USA Today/Golfweek) … CBS Sports’ NFL coverage might force Sunday’s “highest-rated” portion of The Masters to ABC (Awful Announcing).
According to Friday’s Sports Business Daily, Sports tech-focused venture capital firm Drive by DraftKings named investor Meredith McPherron its CEO & Managing Partner. McPherron, a 20-year tech veteran with experience as an angel investor and venture capitalist, most recently with Glasswing Ventures, started at Drive in July. Boston-based, Drive is expected to invest in sports-tech startups in core areas of: Sports and Gaming, Human Performance and Media. McPherron indicated that special emphasis will be placed on companies with strong data and analytics components and whose operations can be built up. “We’re looking for scalable platforms more than we are singular ideas that could be a hit,” she said.
ESPN College Game Day to Broadcast from Augusta - Augusta National Golf Club holds a certain reverence in the sports world that few venues can compete with. Even those who aren’t golf fans can appreciate it for its beauty and history despite seeing it for only one weekend a year. As ESPN’s Rece Davis said, Augusta National is “one of the cathedrals of sport” and “synonymous with excellence and tradition.” So it’s only fitting he’ll be hosting ESPN’s College GameDay this morning, live from the Par 3 Course during the third round of this week’s Masters.
